The story

Fugue is about a woman, recovering in a hospital, who wants nothing to do with the outside world at first. But she slowly, begrudgingly starts to care for a small boy who regularly comes to visit his mother in the room across the hall from hers. Little by little, an unlikely friendship develops between the two, and they both take something away from this encounter – maybe comfort, or hope.
